About ChefnFood
You run the kitchen. We do the planning, the testing & the grocery list.
Stephanie started ChefnFood because she cooks the way most people do: two kids, a full-time job, and about an hour between getting home and sitting down. The recipes here are the ones that survive that hour.
Too many nights went like this: find a recipe, scroll through the life story, get to the bottom, and find a recipe with steps missing and no sense of how much to buy.
What you will find here
ChefnFood publishes recipes for people who cook on repeat. Not the once-a-year showpiece or the weekend project: the Tuesday dinner, the breakfast before work, the dessert you can finish in one bowl. That is the whole scope of this site, and it is deliberately narrow.
Every recipe is written with a chef's eye for technique and seasoning, then held to the reality of a home kitchen: one pan where possible, ingredients from a normal grocery store, and about an hour at the outside. We sit between the food blogs that bury a recipe under nine hundred words of story and the chef sites that assume you own a fish spatula and a digital scale.
Recipes live in seven categories: Quick Dinners, Family Meals, Budget Cooking, Comfort Food, Seasonal Picks, Breakfast and Brunch, and Desserts. Kitchen Notes covers the how-to pieces: storage times, meat temperatures, what to keep in the pantry.
Cooking for two, or for twelve?
Set the serving count on any recipe and the amounts rewrite themselves, ingredients and steps both. Cook times and oven temperatures stay put, because doubling a recipe does not double the time.
What "chef-approved" means here
It is a claim about a standard, not a celebrity. There is no famous name attached to this site, and we will not imply one. Every recipe is held to the questions a professional kitchen asks before a dish goes on the menu: Is the seasoning right? Is each step doing real work? Does the order make sense, or is it costing you a pan and ten minutes for nothing?
Three things come from that standard. Technique is explained, not just performed: every recipe carries a Chef's Take on why it works and one tip worth carrying to other dishes. Temperatures are real numbers, from USDA: chicken at 165°F, ground beef at 160°F. And nothing is padded: recipe intros stop at four sentences, and a step that does not change the outcome is not in the recipe.
The meal plan
Subscribers get the Weekly Meal Plan: five dinners and one grocery list, plus new recipes as they publish. It is free. Sign up here, confirm your email, and the first plan opens right away.
A note from Stephanie
We are small right now, and there is no forum yet. If these recipes earn a place in your week, reply to any email and say so. As ChefnFood grows I want to hear from the people cooking from it. I am a busy mom, so answers may take a few days, but they come.
How the site pays for itself
ChefnFood is free to read. It is supported by sponsored offers and, in some posts, affiliate links, and both are always marked. That does not change which recipes we publish or what we recommend. If a cheaper thing works just as well, we say so.
