This page explains what we collect, why we have it, and what you can do about it. Plain language, no lawyer-speak.

Three things up front, because they're what people actually want to know.

You may not remember signing up with us. If you gave your email address to another company and agreed to hear from its partners, we may be one of those partners — that's how a lot of people end up on our list. We keep a record of where and when each address came to us, and we'll show you yours if you ask.

We send advertising, not only recipes. Some of our email is recipes and cooking notes. Some of it is advertising from companies that pay us, and some messages are advertisements in full. We label them, every time.

Leaving takes one click. Every message we send has a working unsubscribe link. Use it and we stop — no confirmation step, no "are you sure," no second list.

1. Who we are

ChefnFood is a recipe publication operated by Kyber Direct. When this policy says "we," "us," or "ChefnFood," it means that operator. When it says "you," it means anyone who visits chefnfood.com, subscribes to our email, or contacts us.

2. What we collect

When you subscribe to our email directly on this site:

Your email address
Your name, if you choose to give one
The page you subscribed from and the date and time you subscribed
Whether you confirmed your subscription

When your address reaches us from another company:

Some of the people on our list signed up somewhere else — a website, an offer, or a form run by another business — and agreed at that moment to hear from that business's partners. We may be one of those partners.

When an address comes to us that way, we receive and keep:

Your email address, and your name if the original form collected one
The name of the website or company you signed up with
The date and time you signed up
The IP address the signup came from
The exact wording you agreed to

We keep that record for as long as we hold your address, so that we can always answer the question "why am I getting this?" If you want to see your record, email yeschef@e.chefnfood.com and we'll send it to you.

We do not buy or receive browsing history, purchase history, demographic profiles, or any other data about you from these sources. Just the signup record above.

When you open or click our emails: Our email system can record whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to understand which recipes are useful, not to build a profile of you. You can stop this by unsubscribing, or by asking us to disable tracking on your address.

When you sign in to your subscriber account: Signing in uses a one-time link sent to your email. We do not store a password, because we do not use passwords.

When you visit the site:

Basic analytics about pages viewed and roughly where visitors come from. Our analytics tool does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.
Standard server records kept by our hosting provider, which include IP addresses, browser type, and the time of the request. These are used for security and troubleshooting.

When you contact us: Whatever you put in your message, plus your email address so we can reply.

What we do not collect: We do not ask for payment details, and we do not sell products directly. We do not knowingly collect information from children (see Section 9).

3. Cookies and similar technology

Our analytics does not use cookies.

We do use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to work:

Subscriber sign-in. If you sign in to a subscriber account, a cookie keeps you signed in. Without it, the account feature cannot function.
Session and security cookies set by our publishing platform for the same reason.

Because these are limited to making features you asked for actually work, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we ever add advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, we will add a consent notice before we turn them on.

Links to other companies set their own cookies. When you click a link to a retailer or partner, that company's own privacy practices apply from that point forward. We have no control over and no visibility into what they collect. See Section 6.

4. Why we use your information

To send you recipes and cooking content
To send you advertising, including messages that are advertisements in full and messages that carry advertising alongside editorial content
To confirm your subscription and let you sign in
To reply when you contact us
To understand which content and which offers are working, in aggregate
To keep the site secure and functioning
To meet our record-keeping obligations for email marketing, including proving how and when you consented

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade our email list. We do not give your email address to advertisers. When you receive an advertisement from us, we sent it — the advertiser paid for the placement and never sees your address unless you choose to give it to them by responding to their offer.

If you are in a region where the law requires us to name a legal basis for processing: we rely on your consent for marketing email, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for everything else.

We share information only with the service providers that make the site run, and only as much as they need:

We also may disclose information if we are legally required to, or where necessary to protect our rights, safety, or the security of the site.

6. Affiliate links and partner offers

Some links on this site earn us a commission. Clicking one takes you to another company's website, where that company's privacy policy and cookies apply — not ours. Affiliate programs typically use cookies or similar tracking to attribute a purchase back to us. We receive commission reports, not your personal shopping data.

Our email may include partner offers. Those are sent by us, to our own list. We do not hand your email address to the partner.

7. How long we keep it

Subscriber records: for as long as you are subscribed, plus a period afterward so we can prove you consented and honor your unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record so we do not accidentally email you again.
Email engagement data: 12 months.
Contact messages: as long as needed to resolve your question, then archived or deleted.
Server records: as set by our hosting provider, typically a short rolling window.

8. Your choices and rights

Anyone can:

Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of every email. It works immediately and we honor it. One click, no confirmation step.
Ask us where your address came from. Email unsubscribe@e.chefnfood.com and we'll send you the signup record we hold — the site, the date, and the wording you agreed to.
Ask what else we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted.
Ask us to stop email open and click tracking on your address.

If you are in the EU, UK, or a US state with a privacy law, you may have additional rights, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email yeschef@e.che. We will not treat you differently for asking.

9. Children

This site is written for adults who cook. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, email yeschef@echfnfood.com and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect subscriber information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant — for example, if we start collecting something new — we will say so clearly on the site, and by email where appropriate.
